There are a lot of new balls with all kinds of blocks
and cores.
However, little attention is paid to reading the balls roll clearly and the oil track residue on the ball.
This is important.
(1) I would like to see a ball that can be customized in such a way as to put a "white tape-like ring" around the ball 1/4 inch inside the track and the finger holes.
The idea is to see the roll. Also a whit dot marker
can be on the ball at its axis point. See Tom Kuros' book Par Bowling for details.
I've experimented with this by taping a ball.It is very helpful. You can set up a ball with a variety of track rings or instruct pro shop operators to "engrave the ball."
This would be a big plus competitively.
(2) These marble balls like those from Track due not allow one to see the oil ring around a ball. Most black balls do. Their may be other colors like red that work.
The idea here is for one to see clearly the oil ring around their ball after a shot. The idea is to see the consistency of the release.
I've bowled for many years and in some top tournaments. I think these ideas are overdue.
